Drainage Project Getting Started
CPP has 3 major concerns to be addressed in the next couple of months.
After 5 long years of discussing the drainage concerns within our community, a resolution is soon to begin. I want all to know that after many discussions regarding options, the drainage committee has made a decision that works. Larry Moorer has volunteered his time to run a medium sized excavator with rubber tracks that can maneuver over the ditches with the least amount of damage to our yards. Sean Maharrey has used his company resources to secure renting the excavator for the month of October, as well as the appropriate bucket to get the job done correctly. Roger Goodman has also offered to loan his Dump Trailer, so we won’t have to rent one. The board approved 5,000.00 for this work which is 20% of the lowest bid we were able to get from outside companies.
We all need to thank the ones involved, as well as offer to volunteer our time to assist in October. The goal is to clean the ditches with the excavator. We’ll then need to have a few volunteers go behind to rake/shovel to clean the ditch, sew a seed blend, cover the area with wheat straw to allow a good start for the seed to help prevent rain washing it away.
The other 2 projects are the Gate and road repairs. Darrell Billham and the Gate committee will have 3 options for all to review later this month. Once the options have been announced, we will have a vote in October to determine the best course of action regarding the gate.
Further, this committee has 3 options for the road repairs that will be shared at the October 14th meeting.
With all said, we should feel grateful for the work that is taking place. I trust we can all come together and take care of the 3 major items or concerns that CPP has been discussing, and plan to act on them.
I am hopeful that when we meet again October 14, we will have the following:
- Drainage issue in full swing
- A consensus voted on for the gates
- A plan of action to discuss for the road repairs that allows us to determine a date to get that started.
Let’s get these projects behind us so we can enjoy the great community we reside in. I hope you will agree, sharing each other’s company at the recent fish fry and low country boil have been a lot more fun than worrying about road repairs and ditches.
Hoping to help build a great community,
Richard
