Low Country Boil Event
It’s always nice to see our community come together, and yesterday was another great event. I want to thank Denny and Michelle Hopkins for opening their beautiful home, sharing it with 32 members of our community. Denny and Michelle outdid themselves, as they were seen early morning getting things set up. Denny had the “Main Course” set up by the garage and Michelle had everything placed perfectly upstairs.
With an island full of side dishes and breads and another large counter of desserts, we all filled our plates and went downstairs for the main course “Low Country Boil? A table filled with corn on the cob, steamed shrimp, boiled potatoes, and sausage seasoned with Old Bay for all to admire and consume. Please see the picture of Darrell with a plate full of shrimp shells!
A special thanks to Amanda Anderson, AKA Madam Secretary, for helping Denny and Michelle put this event together.
Further, there were games for everyone to enjoy. Not just the kids but the adults as well. Sandy and Tim: you need to practice on your cornhole game! I think Parker could take you both and I know Tiffany could!!
These are the places to meet your neighbors and make new friends. Charmayne and I have built some special friendships with many of you during these times and we look forward to making more. There is always something special about breaking bread together, and this event was another great one.
Thank you again to Denny, Michelle and Amanda as well as all those that brought covered dishes and helped. It was a special time and the weather was perfect!
I always look back and try to think of ways we could make these events better. I hope we can discuss this at the next meeting as well. One thing that occurred to me, is to think of those that couldn’t be there, whether it be because of sickness or some other reason. Maybe next time we can have a few individuals willing to make a covered plate for those who were unable to get out yesterday. After all, this is a community of great people and we can make it even better.
Hoping to help build a better community!
