I wanted to take a moment to discuss PROPOSED revisions to our Bylaws and Covenants.

The original Bylaws and Covenants were established in the very beginning around 2004. I am not sure if the original ones were something that had been used by the developer previously, or if they were the prevailing way to protect Cypress Point Plantation at that time. As time passes, things typically need to be addressed to protect the interest of those within our community. After all, whoever thought we would need insurance to protect us from terrorism? I certainly didn’t.

The Bylaws and Covenants revision project was drafted by Martha Veno, Libby Billham, Steve Leya, and others. It was diligently worked on five years ago, which included meeting with an attorney to review the original By Laws and Covenants.

I want to be very clear that this is a discussion. We have 31 votes and 30 lot owners, so it is so important that we are all heard. This revision will be discussed at the August 19 special meeting; to voice any thoughts, suggestions, revisions, etc. After we come to a consensus, we can revise and resubmit for all to review again if needed. I have asked Libby Billham to be present to answer questions that I am not qualified to answer.

The Bylaws and Covenants Revision Project has been discussed for years. It is time to bring our community together and put these issues behind us. I plan to facilitate the meeting and am hopeful we can all be considerate during this endeavor.

I have included the Bylaws and Covenants – Original & Revised, as well as the 2016 Meeting Plan for your review. Martha Veno took a great deal of time to type out the originals and place the revisions in red for your review. Please read these carefully, make a few notes and bring them to the special meeting with you. I suspect we can all come to a consensus and get this in our rear view mirror soon!
